An exceedingly rare and unique, Vintage / Antique, Figural, United States Capitol Enameled & Gold Tone Screw BackLapel Pin….
The pin features an all original, bright white enamel which serves to highlight the Capitol itself, against the vintage gold coloring. Interestingly, there is also a row of alternating red and yellow enamel accents running along the bottom of the pin. I believe that these colors represent the tulips that grow in front of the building during spring time.
This Vintage / Antique United States Capitol Enameled & Gold Tone Lapel Pin appears to be in very good vintage condition, with the only exception being some minor bending at the top portion of the finial, or in other words, the portion depicting the “Statue of Freedom”. With that said, everything else looks excellent, as there is hardly any enamel loss, the pin is perfectly functional and includes what appears to be original screw backing and the gold tone, which has not been cleaned or polished, looks fantastic.
The pin measures approximately 1” tall (from the base to the top of the finial) by 1 and 3/8” wide and has a nice hefty feel, weighing almost nine grams in total with a high quality feel, established throughout the work.
Surprisingly, I was unable to find any markings or manufacturing information on the piece. However, there is a rather uniformed, fancy, recognizable pattern that covers the back of the pin.
